Most patients receive general anaesthesia for pain-free sleeping during the process. In local anaesthesia, you will be awake. Only the breast and chest area is numbed by using local anaesthetic agents used to block pain sensation. The process is carried out by placing implants of saline water, a sac filled with sterile water or silicon material. The augmentation process for placing implants is done by different methods, which are as follow An incision is made at the breast’s underside in natural skin folds. The surgeon places implants through the incision opening. This method’s scar is more prominent if the patient is young, thin and having no children. The other technique of placing a breast implant is to make an incision at the armpit’s underside. Then an endoscope or other related instrument is used for delivering the implant to the desired area. There will be no scar at the breast by this method, but a visible defacement of the area can be seen at the arm side where the incision was made. The implant is placed at two places, either under the pectoral muscle that is a submuscular placement. The other site for implant placement is directly behind the breast tissue over the submuscular space. It is called sub mammary sub-glandular placement. The surgical tape or skin adhesive layered sutures are used for closing the incision. These incision lines or scaring will fade away with time.
